Stay in a stunning 18th- century farmhouse in a secluded and tranquil part of the Calke Estate. Previously a working dairy farm, Southwood House is full of character and surrounded by a range of historic buildings.

A home from home

This substantial house can accommodate 14 people so is perfect for a family get together or somewhere to celebrate with friends.
It is in an isolated position on the Estate, has numerous communal areas and a large garden so you can really make yourself at home.

The ground floor

On the ground floor you will find a large kitchen, a utility room with toilet and a spacious dining room to accommodate every guest.
There are two ground floor bedrooms. One is a double with a 5 foot (1.5m) bed and has an en-suite wet room which makes this property suited to people with restricted mobility. There is a further twin bedroom on this floor. There are also two sitting rooms. The main sitting room has an open fire to keep you warm and cosy.

The first floor

There are three bedrooms. Two doubles with 5 foot (1.5m) beds and one twin. The first double overlooks the garden and is situated opposite a spacious bathroom with shower over the bath. There is a further double room and a very spacious twin room. Another bathroom is on this floor and this is also spacious with a cast iron roll top bath with shower over.

The second floor

There is a large landing area which has two twin rooms leading off.

The garden

The garden is very large and mainly lawn. There is plenty of room for children to run around outside. There is a small stream at the bottom of the garden and various outbuildings which visitors do not have access to. There are picnic benches in the garden to relax on in the evening.
