Clandon Park fire appeal

Following the terrible fire in April 2015 that left our 18th-century Surrey mansion in ruins, we now look to its future

Everyone was evacuated from the building and there were no reported injuries when the blaze struck Clandon Park on 29 April 2015. But the fire spread rapidly through the building, causing significant damage. Clandon Park was one of the country’s most complete examples of a Palladian mansion and contained an important collection of 18th-century furniture, porcelain and textiles. Following the salvage operation and the findings of the Surrey fire service into the causes of the fire, we are now planning a new life for Clandon.

" Our plans involve returning parts of the house to its 18th-century glory whilst at the same time creating a building of beauty and relevance for the 21st century."
- Helen Ghosh, former Director-General
