Explore the Treason Trail at Coughton Court
Have you discovered Coughton’s natural play trail in the woodland? It is always a good time to get the whole family together and go on an adventure over to Coughton’s ancient woodland where the Treason Trail is waiting to be explored.
The play area at Coughton was removed last year so that we could extend the paddock. Since then we have introduced 12 Rhode Island Red chickens which are free to roam the length of the paddock and recently some young pigs.
The Outdoors Team at Coughton thought this was the perfect time to introduce an outdoor play trail in the bluebell wood which is based around the story of the gunpowder plotters and their path to treason.
The Welly Walk at Packwood and Playful Journeys at nearby Baddesley Clinton have both encouraged families to explore the great outdoors and they have also ensured that more people and families are using our beautiful outdoor spaces. The team at Coughton thought this was the perfect time to expand the natural play offer at Coughton.
The outdoors team started work in the winter months of 2016 planning the story and the route and the play trail was officially opened in time for May half-term last year.
The trail is based on the events of the Gunpowder Plot and children can grab a hobby horse from the Welcome Centre and gallop across the fields, pretend to be royalty on the oversized throne, take their photo with our Guy Fawkes wanted posters and make up a tune on our wooden xylophone.
Eight story panels will guide you around the woodland where visitors will learn the story of the plotters, explore the pieces of natural play and most importantly have fun in the great outdoors!
