Stables bookshop

Browse through our collection of quality second-hand books at bargain prices in the old stables.

Our dedicated team of volunteers are ready to welcome you to the Coughton bookshop where you can pick up a holiday read, a cookery book, browse books about history or gardening, or seek out something a little more specialist.

" I love being around books, and having the opportunity to meet like-minded people is a perfect way to spend a day."
- Dave Chant - Bookshop Volunteer

Every book in the shop has been donated and the money raised from sales goes towards funding vital conservation work here at Coughton. In recent years, funds raised by the bookshop have gone towards repairing some seventeenth-century window glass, some of the oldest on site, in the Potting Shed, and buying a specially made eyemat to protect our Dining Room carpet – the eyemat lets us display the carpet while protecting it from the thousands of feet that pass over it every year. Last year the bookshop made over £11,000 – money which will be spent on conserving an eighteenth-century Parisian clock, a focal point of the Drawing Room and one which we would love to hear ticking again!

We are always seeking good-quality donations for the bookshop. You can drop books in to the shop any time that Coughton is open, or give us a ring in the office on 01789 400777 if you have a large number to leave with us.
