19th-century life captured in photos at Dudmaston

A family playing in the gardens of the Dudmaston Estate, Shropshire

The photo archive at Dudmaston has been found to contain images from the 1850s and the early days of photography.

Such early images are rare, and reveal a fascinating glimpse in to 19th-century life.
The photos have been preserved and indexed following meticulous cataloguing and scanning by volunteers Malcolm Jones, Geoff Wilcox and Richard Williams.
Thanks to their diligent efforts, an exclusive selection of historic photographs are put on display at Dudmaston Estate from 2015.
