Dunwich Heath and Beach, Suffolk

View along the grass covered dunes of Minsmere Beach looking North towards Dunwich coastguard cottages

Tucked away on the Suffolk coast is the dramatic landscape of Dunwich Heath Nature reserve. The heath-land is rich in wildlife year round and in the summer months, erupts into colour with yellow gorse and pink and purple heather.

Dunwich Heath is a terrific spot for a walk. Take your pick from three trails, each offering different views of the varied landscape. On your way, keep an eye out for rare species like red deer, the Dartford warbler, nightjars, ant-lions and adders. You can also spot seals and porpoises using our cliff-top telescopes.
Are you a young explorer? Learn all about the heath with a discovery trail. And the adventure doesn't end there - set out to find sunken treasure on a geocache trail or track down creepy crawlies on a bug hunt.
