Friends of Godolphin
We are a friendly group who support Godolphin with a varied activity calendar.
The Friends of Godolphin National Trust Supporter Group (FOG)
Godolphin has its very own supporter group, founded in 2010, which organises events in the form of talks, and social events, held in local village halls right throughout the year. In addition, for local clubs and societies, it provides a speaker to give illustrated talks on the history of Godolphin and its people through the ages. Some FOG members have been carrying out extensive historical research which is printed in the FOG Newsletter, conveyed by email four times a year to all members throughout the world.
That is one of the interesting things about FOG membership – it isn’t just for people who live in Cornwall, it’s for everyone, everywhere and you don’t actually have to be a NT member to join. Many folk who come on holiday to Cornwall become interested in Godolphin’s history and conservation and wish to keep in touch. We are a very friendly group and we make all our visitors very welcome. Our programme of events is open to all. All our fund-raising goes towards supporting projects at Godolphin. In nine years we have donated £14,844.96 for projects at Godolphin, by raising funds through subscriptions, talks, coffee mornings, quizzes and barn dances. If you would like to join FOG please email the secretary at firstname.lastname@example.org or pick up an application form from the tearoom at Godolphin when you next visit.
The Godolphin NT staff contribute to the FOG Newsletter by supplying each quarter, an informative article on their work. So our FOG mailing is a great way to keep in touch with what the NT is doing to conserve and interpret Godolphin.
Our annual subscription is just £5 which covers all people living in the same household who are listed on the membership application form. By using email we have no printing and postage costs so we are able to minimise expenses.
Where and when we meet
We normally meet in Townshend Village Hall on some Monday evenings but in the winter we try to have afternoon meetings. Our annual quiz is in Leedstown Village Hall in March.
Due to government advice, we have postponed our events programme. We will update this section in due course.
