West Suffolk Association
The West Suffolk Association was founded in 1978 in support of the National Trust and also to create a friendly environment for like-minded people to meet and enjoy social activities.
Our aims are:
to promote the work of the National Trust both locally and nationally
to raise funds in support of specific National Trust projects
Drawing members from the area of west Suffolk, membership is open to members of the National Trust, affiliated organisations, or holders of current National Trust Volunteer Cards.
National Trust places within our area include Ickworth House, Park and Gardens, Melford Hall, Lavenham Guildhall and the Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds.
Donations from our fundraising activities have supported all of these properties, and we’ve also supported specific projects at Anglesey Abbey, Wimpole Hall, Wicken Fen and the White Cliffs of Dover.
Members enjoy illustrated talks, social events and day visits to see Trust properties and other places of interest. In addition to providing enjoyment, these events can give our members a greater understanding of the Trust's wider activities and development.
West Suffolk Association usually meets from September to May, and once in January for our annual lunch. Meetings are held on Tuesdays at 2.30pm in the New Green Centre, New Green, Thurston, IP31 3TG.
