Visit Fountains Abbey this December
'Tis the season at last - Christmas is truly here! There are so many ways to enjoy this wonderful time of year at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal, from spending time with friends and family on a fresh winter walk, singing along to festive tunes at Music and Lights or nattering over a brew and mince pie in the tea-rooms.
Christmas is when you come together with the people who mean the most to you. Share some precious time with them as you enjoy a stroll through the abbey lit with rainbow colours, listen to some cheerful festive music and take in the follies glowing gold against the trees.
Warm your hands around a cream-covered-marshmallow-mountain of hot chocolate and fill your tummy with some seasonal fare from the kitchens. Enjoy the sounds and colours of Music and Lights as you tuck into a pulled pork sandwich or chicken rotisserie with all the trimmings.
Christmas is coming, so we hope you've all been kind and well-behaved! Visit Fountains Hall to the Christmas post office to make sure your letters are sent off to Father Christmas in time. We'll provide the paper, pens, envelopes and stamps - all that's left is for you to write your wish list, don the postmaster's hat, and send it off to Father Christmas.
North Country Theatre is back with a fun and interactive family story-telling walk. Hear all about how the mysterious Green Man of Fountains and the Spirit of Spring and Summer, versus the Snow Queen and her accomplice, Jack Frost. This story walk lasts for an hour, costs £2 and we advise booking.
If that’s not enough for you, burn the Christmas excess off by joining us for the Boxing day pilgrimage from Ripon Cathedral to St Mary’s Church.
Enjoy the estate in all its festive glory this December and come to see the abbey ruins lit up with bright with colourful lights right up to 5pm. It's sure to get you into the Christmas spirit on a cold winter’s afternoon.
