About Dalehead BunkhouseGather your group and disconnect from modern life when you stay in this rural bolt hole deep in the Edale Valley.
You really will be staying ‘off the beaten track’ in this 20-sleeper bunkhouse; its isolated location, deep in the Edale Valley, means there are no public roads leading to it. A single, narrow track will guide you to this rural hideaway, where you’ll be surrounded only by working farmland, grazing sheep and a tumbling stream at the bottom of the garden.
Inside offers plenty of space to relax among its rustic exposed beams and low doorways. You’ll have three bedrooms to divide into and a communal living and dining area with sofas and a cosy log burner to huddle around. There’s even a payphone for when your phone signal drops out.
Its location, in the heart of the Peak District, means you’ll be in perfect walking and cycling territory. The fluffy moorland and jagged gritstone of Dark Peak can be walked to in an hour or driven to in 15 minutes. From here you can also hike to stargazing haven Mam Tor, which has some of the darkest skies in the UK.

Notes for guests
Heating: The radiators run off the wood burner in the living room so you will need to light the fire to get the radiators working. Wood will be included for the fire during your stay.
To help reduce carbon emissions and increase energy savings, the National Trust has installed a low energy, state-of-the-art FAR Infra-Red heating system in the bunkhouse. Whilst this technology is capable of heating the building completely, it has been introduced in the bunkhouse to work alongside the existing wood burner heating system.
Bedding/linen: Linen and pillows are not provided. Mattress protectors are on all the beds.
Dogs: There is a £15 charge for dogs staying at Dalehead bunkhouse, payable at time of booking.
Parking: There is parking for approximately 8 cars nearby, 20 metres from the bunkhouse.
Garden: The garden is at the back of the property. The garden is not enclosed is open to a stream and countryside. The garden is fairly small.
Hazards: The route to house is unlit, slightly uphill and uneven. Due to the limited access route up a rural track, the access is not suitable for any vehicle larger than a 15 seat minibus. The bunkhouse is close to a working farm, and there are cattle/sheep grazing nearby. There are some low doorways and low beams throughout the bunkhouse.
