About Scotney West Lodge

Scotney West Lodge is a classic and comfortable two bedroom house at the entrance to a beautiful wooded estate. Scotney Castle is home to a 14th-century moated castle, Victorian country mansion and romantic garden, and you’ll have free entry during your stay, during opening hours.

You’ll enter the lodge through its private garden at the back of the house, which has stone paths, raised planting and a deck for dining. Indoors, there’s a small kitchen, a dining room with the corner windows typical to gatehouses, and a comfortable sitting room with a log burner and a grand staircase leading upstairs. The colours in the house reflect the estate’s sandstone hues and feature Scotney blue, the characteristic teal of the castle’s doors.

Both bedrooms are upstairs. The first has a king-size bed, an ornate fireplace and steps leading down into the family bathroom. There’s a shower room downstairs which guests in the second bedroom may like to use; this bedroom is a twin with a large window and window seat.

The Scotney Castle estate has over 780 acres of beautiful parkland, woodland and many gardens to enjoy. Charming local villages, such as Wadhurst and Lamberhurst, offer a range of pubs and local shops.
