About Slindon’s survey blitzSpend a week immersing yourself in the wildlife of the Slindon Estate.
Join the estate team for the week where you will learn to survey plants, invertebrates, butterflies, dormice, birds and more. The surveying could take place anywhere on the estate - from cultivated farmland to hazel shaded lanes, leafy ancient woodland or thriving hedgerows. Working as part of a team you’ll count, measure and survey after learning identification skills.
The results you gather will make a real difference as they will help the team to monitor any population changes but also see the benefits of their habitat-improving work, which contributes towards how the habitats will be managed in the long term. While at Slindon, you’ll also get some time to see first-hand the biggest woodland restoration that the National Trust has ever taken on - the ‘Rise of Northwood’ - which plans to return 185 acres of farmland to its pre-wartime wooded landscape.
