October half-term and Hallowe'en in the East of England

We've got pumpkin patches, scary spiders, creaking staircases and secret doorways, just some of the ingredients you'll need for a spooky Hallowe'en adventure. From pumpkin carving and walks after dark (for those brave enough), to autumn crafts and bug hunts, here are some of our places you might like to visit with the family this October half-term.

Child playing in Chute Wood Dunstable Downs Bedfordshire

Come and explore the wonders of Chute Wood at Dunstable Downs and all the ghoulish creatures that can be found there on our popular pumpkin trail.

A colourful display of squash, pumpkin and gourd in the glasshouse at Wimpole

Visit if you dare! Join us for a spooky trail after dark at Houghton Mill, our Fenland spooktacular returns at Wicken Fen, and we'll be pumpkin carving at Wimpole Home Farm.

Big camp at night with a family camp fire.

Have you ever visited Hatfield Forest after dark? For those that are brave enough, we’ll be heading off on a night-time adventure. Book your tickets and join us for a hike through the dark woods and then enjoy marshmallows and singing around the campfire. If the night time is not for you, join us for a glimpse into the secretive world of fallow deer and perhaps catch a glace of the rut in action.

Children carrying pumpkins

From pumpkin pastimes to apples galore, lots of our half-term activities are making the most of nature this October. Join us for wild art creations, scarey spiders and nature walks after dark!

Family walking in the park at Ickworth, The Rotunda, Suffolk
