As a charity our purpose is to make nature, beauty and history part of people's lives. Pride and support for LGBTQ+ communities is part of our mission to make sure everyone feels welcome in everything we do.

The National Trust at Pride

Throughout the summer, Pride events are where many people who identify as LGBTQ+ and their allies celebrate and commemorate years of the struggle for civil rights.

We're attending more than 30 LGBTQ+ Pride events across England, Wales and Northern Ireland in 2025. We also host events at the places we look after that celebrate LGBTQ+ communities and histories.

Pride is a hugely important event for hundreds of thousands of people all around the world – part-celebration, part-protest and, for many, a chance to be visible. It’s an opportunity to reflect on how far we’ve come as a society and acknowledge the work still to be done.

The best part was seeing a spectator waving her National Trust membership card at us as we paraded past. She was so proud to see us there!

A quote by National Trust staff member at Birmingham Pride 2024

Being part of Pride is a way to introduce ourselves and our work to more people. Through sharing LGBTQ+ stories at the places we care for, walking in parades to celebrate LGBTQ+ with communities and colleagues, and giving out free entry passes to National Trust sites at events, we're encouraging everyone to feel welcome at the National Trust now and forever.
