A magical after-dark walk through Prior Park’s historic
landscape, brought to life with atmospheric lights, projections and sounds.

Alight! is an event created by SoundUK, and brings together sound and light installations by leading artists Kathy Hinde and Ulf Pedersen, plus emerging talent Wayne Binitie.

Wander among the illuminated landscape to discover work inspired by nature in an event that transforms Prior Park at Christmas time.

Wrap up warm, and tuck into mince pies, hot chocolate and mulled wine around the fire at this unique experience for the whole family.

Friday 15 - Sunday 17 December. A number of time slots are available from 4.30pm, with the last admission at 7.45pm.

The installations will form a trail around the top part of the garden. There will be no access to the lower end of the garden, lakes and Palladian Bridge for this after hours event. Admission is through the main entrance on Ralph Allen Drive.

National Trust members and non-members will need a ticket to attend the event.

There will be a refreshment stand at the top of the garden, selling mince pies, hot chocolate and mulled wine. Please note that the refreshment stand will be cash only.

How to get here

Prior Park is a green tourism site and therefore we have no general car park. Please consider walking to the garden (around 30 minutes up hill from the city centre), or take a taxi or the bus. The number 2 bus (First Group) from Bath Bus Station stops right outside the main entrance to the garden. There will also be some extra services running on the Sunday evening (last few services on Sunday will stop by the main entrance at around 6.51, 7.21 and 7.51pm).

What to bring

This is an outdoor event so we advise lots of warm clothes, and good sturdy outdoor footwear. There will be a brazier burning to help warm you up in the refreshment area, but best to come prepared.

The trail route is partially accessible (one set of steps). There is a disabled toilet on site, and a very limited number of accessible car parking spaces. If you have a blue badge and need to use car parking facilities, please call us on 01225 833977 or email to reserve a space.

Assistance dogs are welcome at this event.
