Volunteer opportunities for the dams project
Prior Park wouldn’t be the same without the wonderful volunteers who lend their time and skills, welcome visitors, and help keep the garden looking great. We're now recruiting for several project-specific volunteer roles that will play a vital part in the day-to-day running of the garden throughout the duration of the dams project. They also offer volunteers an exciting opportunity to be closely involved with an ambitious restoration project. If you don’t see a role here that suits you, we are always happy to hear from people who feel they have a special skill-set or knowledge that would be valuable to the garden.
Visitor Welcome Volunteer
You'll provide a warm welcome to Prior Park's visitors when they enter the garden and answer any immediate questions they may have. You will also give visitors the information they need about the dams project and the current works. You will be a support to our Visitor Reception team in all they do.
Garden Interpretation Volunteer
Visitors to Prior Park during the dams project will have a very different experiences of the garden to usual and we expect them to have a lof of questions. You will be there to provide them with a wealth of dams project information. We'll make sure you're up to date and all clued up on all aspects of the works and it'll be your job to inspire our visitors with that knowledge.
Garden Tour Guide Volunteer
As we restore the Prior Park's 18th-century dams, you will engage with visitors and lead them on insightful tours around the garden. You'll inspire them with the history of the garden, our ongoing restoration work and the importance of the dams project. .
Food and Beverage Volunteer
Can you imagine a stroll around the garden without a nice hot drink and a cake? As a food and beverage volunteer, you will be part of our supportive and friendly catering team, offering them assistance at the temporary tea shed and delivering exceptional service to our visitors.
Do you have a thirst for knowledge and an interest in historic landscapes and buildings? We need help researching a diverse range of topics, such as 18th-century construction and engineering, garden design, and a variety of other relevant topics. Your work support our own research and inform our interpretation in the garden.
Handy people who know a thing or two about odd jobs and DIY should look no further than this role. You'll be working around the garden on a variety of projects including; building benches, repairs, painting, and carpentry. You'll use your skills to support our team in ensuring the upkeep of the garden and its outbuildings.
Friday Garden Volunteer
Would you like to spend more time outdoors, getting your hands grubby? Join our welcoming team of gardeners with their ongoing work in the garden. Weeding, cutting back, pruning, planting and path maintenance, you'll get a chance to try it all. Whether you've got horticultural skills you'd like to contribute or you're looking to learn, we'd love to hear from you. This role includes a lot of work on steep slopes and can be physically demanding.
Machinery Maintenance Volunteer
We use a lot of garden machinery in Prior Park and on the Bath Skyline, and it often needs maintenance and repair works. If you've got experience or a background in mechanics, this role based in our workshop could be the ideal one for you.
