Visiting Runnymede and Ankerwycke with your dog

We love dogs at Runnymede, and your four-legged friend is welcome to explore here all year round. To help all our visitors have the best possible visit, we simply ask that you adhere to the Countryside Code and keep your dog under effective control.

Dog-walking etiquette

You can help look after the beautiful countryside here by keeping your dog in sight and under control at all times. As a sign of respect, when around the memorials please keep any dogs on a short lead.

There's a dog waste bin in the memorials car park, provided by Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. Please always clear up after your dog.

Free dog waste bags are available from the Magna Carta tea-room if needed.

You don't need to go quite this far to keep your dog cool, but it's definitely a good look

Animal Welfare

Some areas of Runnymede and Ankerwycke are grazed by cattle. When entering any field containing livestock, please make sure to put your dog on a short lead and keep your distance.

As advised by the RSPCA, please don't leave your dog unattended in a car at any time during the year.

Dogs are welcome in the seating area outside the tea-room, where we offer a bowl of water so they can enjoy a relaxing drink too.
