Eating and shopping at Souter Lighthouse and The Leas

A selection of cakes and scones on the counter at Souter Lighthouse cafe

Whether you're touring the lighthouse or walking on The Leas, the Lighthouse Cafe is the perfect spot to refuel. You could pick up something to read over a cuppa from our second hand bookshop too.

The Lighthouse Cafe

Our cafe offers a welcoming pit stop for lighthouse visitors and anyone exploring The Leas or Whitburn Coastal Park. Eat in or, if the weather's being kind, opt for takeaway and find a picnic table in the lighthouse grounds or a sunny spot further afield.

Grab a hot or cold drink and treat yourself to a snack such as a homemade scone or slice of cake. Breakfast baps are available all day and we offer a selection of sandwiches and baguettes as well as sausage rolls and pasties for a light lunch.

Download our menu below and check the cafe's blackboard for daily specials when you visit.

If you have concerns over a food allergy or intolerance, please speak to a member of our cafe team. For further information, please visit the National Trust allergen information page.

If it's a quick snack or drink you need to keep you on the move, head for our kiosk on The Leas. Open daily during school holidays and Friday - Sunday March to October, serving tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cold drinks, ice-creams, crisps and confectionery to take away. Plus dog-friendly ice-cream, so four-legged friends needn't miss out.

Souter's second-hand bookshop

You'll find our second-hand bookshop in the admissions area whenever the lighthouse is open (check opening times here). Drop by to browse and buy all kinds of books, whether you're looking for your next page-turner, cookery inspiration or a story to fire the kids' imagination. All proceeds go towards caring for the lighthouse, The Leas and Whitburn Coastal Park.
