Summer holiday activities at Tatton

Tatton is perfect for long, lazy summer days, and it’s great for all the family too.

In the Gardens

Play a game of hide and seek with the children or simply relax and take in the perfumed air. Find out more about the produce we grow and learn fascinating facts about the work of the gardening team. Keep your eyes pealed to spot our gardeners in action too, who are always happy to answer questions.

In the Parklands

Spot our Red and Fallow Deer. It’s a great time to view them from a distance as many of othem are calving right now, so if you're lucky you might just spot a young fawn nestled in the long grass. Or why not take some time out in the Allen Bird Hide – a secluded space to watch nature uninterrupted. Relax by the Meres and simply take time to find the perfect spot to sit awhile and unwind.

Down on the Farm

A firm favourite with families, find out more about our Field to Fork story at the Farm. We’ve brought old characters back to life with friendly actors and lovingly restored the old mill - see and hear the original machinery in action. Enjoy butter and cheese making demonstrations, watch our cows being milked and hear fascinating animal talks each day. The rare breed animals continue to be the stars of the show and there’s den building and a woodland play trail to help the children burn off their energy.

Places to play

The playground is a long standing favourite with families and is conveniently placed near the picnic area. You can enjoy hours of fun here and there’s plenty of tracks to cycle and scoot around too.

Relax and recharge

On warm summer days don’t forget to pop into the Stableyard to buy an ice cream or chilled drink from our Tuck Shop. Savour an afternoon tea sat outside in the idyllic Gardener’s Cottage with views of the Kitchen Gardens and relax whilst we bring the finest home cooked meals direct to your table. If you feel inspired to enhance your garden at home, pop into the Garden Shop for garden themed gifts and practical gardening goods. The Garden Shop also sells Tatton grown fruit and vegetables and our Housekeeper’ Store has tempting Tatton reared meats and local produce on sale; perfect for a BBQ back at home on a sunny day.

Events not to be missed

Throughout the Summer we’re running exciting events most days with fun, alternative workshops to keep the children entertained during the six week holidays. There'll be large scale shows and events from the Foodies Festival to the RHS and outdoor cinema. See the main Tatton website for details or the summary below.
