Summer holiday activities at Tatton Park

Tatton Park is the perfect place to spend long, lazy summer days. With places to play, acres of gardens and parkland to explore, a working farm to discover and events and activities throughout the summer, it's great for all the family too.

In the Gardens

Play a game of hide and seek with the children or simply relax and take in the perfumed air. Find out more about the produce we grow and learn fascinating facts about the work of the gardening team. Keep your eyes peeled to spot our gardeners in action too, who are always happy to answer questions.

In the Parklands

Spot our red and fallow deer. It’s a great time to view them from a distance as many of them are calving right now, so if you're lucky you might just spot a young fawn nestled in the long grass. Or why not take some time out in the Allen Bird Hide – a secluded space to watch nature uninterrupted. Relax by the Meres and simply take time to sit awhile and unwind.

Down on the Farm

In its heyday, Tatton Park’s 40-acre farm fed the Tatton Estate family and staff. Today, you can discover this Field to Fork story by meeting farmworkers from the past and present, exploring original buildings such as the impressive 18th-century mill and watching fascinating demonstrations. The woodland play area, den building and kids trails bring young
imaginations to life, and of course there are still lots of rare breed friends to say hello to!

Kids will love daily farm fun!

27 July–27 August, activities are timed throughout the day. Please check noticeboards at the start of your visit

  • Storytelling: Percy the Park Keeper.
  • Run wild in the Maize Maze.
  • Say hello to our newly hatched chicks.
  • Milking demos in the Shippon with Berry, our Jersey cow.
  • Imagine what it’s like to be the miller! See and hear the original mill machinery producing feed for the animals.

Places to play

The playground is a long standing favourite with families and is conveniently placed near the picnic area. You can enjoy hours of fun here and there’s plenty of tracks to cycle and scoot around too.

Relax and recharge

On warm summer days don’t forget to pop into the Stableyard to buy an ice cream or chilled drink from our Tuck Shop. Dine al fresco with our Stables Summer picnic boxes, available to order online and pick up on your visit. Savour an afternoon tea sat outside in the idyllic Gardener’s Cottage Tearooms with views of the Kitchen Gardens and relax whilst we bring delicious cakes and homemade sandwiches direct to your table. Our Housekeeper’s Store has tempting Tatton Park reared meats and local produce on sale; perfect for a BBQ back at home on a sunny day.

Events not to be missed

Throughout the summer we’re running exciting events to keep the family entertained during the six week holidays. Here are some of the highlights:
