After leaving Kew, Harvey worked abroad for several years before returning to the UK, where he supported the opening of the Eden Project in 2001. From 2001 to 2006 he was the Head Gardener at Borde Hill Garden in Essex and whilst there, achieved the 2004 HHA/Christies’ Garden of the Year Award. Harvey then moved to Windsor as Head of the Savill Garden and Deputy Keeper of Gardens and collections across Windsor Great Park.

He now manages the gardens at Eaton Hall over in Chester. He has won many RHS plant show competitions and is a regular judge for the RHS Spring Woody Plant competition.
