A walk in Elgar country

Start point
The Firs visitor centre, Elgar's Birthplace, Crown East Lane, Lower Broadheath, Worcestershire WR2 6RH. Grid ref: SO807556
Step 1
From the visitor centre, follow the path to the cottage. At the gate turn left onto the bridleway.
Step 2
Follow the bridleway for about 700 metres. As you approach Oldbury Farm you will see a yellow footpath sign on the left next to an electricity pylon.
Step 3
Turn left and follow the path across the field to the hedge.
Step 4
When you reach the hedge turn left and continue to the end. Turn right and follow the footpath up through the field until you reach a stile.
Step 5
Go over the stile into the field, then bear left to follow the footpath across the field.
Step 6
Two-thirds of the way across the field (about 250 metres) take the path to the right and follow it through the gap in the trees into a residential lane.
Step 7
Turn left and follow the lane until you reach the T-junction with Bell Lane.
Step 8
Turn left and follow the footpath along Bell Lane until you reach the junction with Sling Lane.
Step 9
Turn left and then immediately right to walk across the field. Follow the public bridleway sign diagonally left across the field. As you reach the end of the field, bear left to enter Laycocks Lane. You will join Laycocks Lane at the junction with Crown East Lane.
Step 10
Turn left into Crown East Lane and follow the road back to The Firs visitor centre, which will be on your left.
