Tours and talks at the Textile Conservation Studio

Close up view of textile through camera

The studio is not generally open to the public but we can offer organised groups the chance to come and have a look around and meet the team. Staff are also available to give talks and lectures about their work to local groups.

  • We offer a limited amount of tours for pre-organised groups each year for a maximum of 20 people. There is a charge for these tours. Tours for 2020 are now open for booking.
  • The tour lasts for approximately 1½ hours. This is a rare chance to see objects close up and to talk to the conservators involved about their work.
  • We also offer the opportunity to visit the studio on alternative years as part of Heritage Open Days. The next opportunity for these free tours will be in September 2020. If you are interested in this event, contact us for further information, booking will be open nearer the time.

Conservation staff are happy to give talks to local groups about aspects of their work. This can range from the Trust's textiles in general, life as a conservator or about specific conservation projects. A fee for this is normally charged to cover time and expenses.
