Learn how to make a one leg stool in a day with the Somerset Bodgers.

In this one day course you will split ash logs, remove sharp edges with an axe and then shave the billet into a cylinder using a draw knife and shave horse. It then goes onto a pole lathe to be fashioned into a single leg. The next stage is to tenon the end of the leg to be inserted into a pre-shaped but not finished seat. The final task is to finish and smooth the seat. A surprisingly useful item where a degree of concentration is required.

Somerset Bodgers workshops take place outdoors, so please wear suitable clothing for the weather on the day.

When you have decided which course you want to do email somersetbodgers@icloud.com They will get back to you with bank details. You then make a payment and confirm. They will then send you a printable certificate. A reminder is sent out to participants about a week before the event with joining instructions. Timber for all courses is largely sourced from the Tyntesfield Estate and Leigh Woods.
