A rare opportunity to see not only the gatehouse but other parts of this former monastic site.
A tour around the site of Ramsey Abbey, one of the 'fen five' monasteries that dominated the area in the middle ages. The tour will start at the remains of the monastic gatehouse before moving on to Booths Hill, and finishing at the Walled Garden. The tour involves approximately 25 minutes of walking, but it is all over pavements and even ground.
Stories on the tour will include the history of the Motte and Bailey Castle and the Ice House, as well as the Abbey House, which can be viewed from the outside.
Tours last upt to 2.5 hours in total; places are limited so please let us know if you cannot attend. Meet at least 10 minutes before the start time of your tour at the Abbey Gatehouse.
