Local artist and experienced teacher Ula Fung will guide you through some of the stand-out elements of Canaletto’s paintings, including his theatrical use of light and shadow, his striking baroque-style compositions that bring drama and movement to architectural scenes. The medium of Pen & Watercolour is a perfect way to learn and study the works of Canaletto in a workshop setting. In this workshop, participants will study how Canaletto designed his paintings - from his perspective and structure to his attention to atmosphere and apply them to their own studies using basic watercolour techniques and drawing techniques using a technical pen. Ula will begin the session with a short demonstration, teaching you some drawing and painting techniques. Within the workshop you’re likely to complete more than one work as you study the composition and content of Canaletto’s work. This workshop is perfect for those keen to learn and develop their skills while gaining insight into one of the great masters of light and composition.
