Canaletto Creative Writing with Joy Winkler

A special creative writing workshop with a former Cheshire Poet Laureate, inspired by Tatton Park's 2026 Canaletto exhibition.

  • Booking essential

"Wish you were here" Join us for this exciting creative writing workshop with former Cheshire Poet Laureate, published author, playwright and experienced workshop facilitator, Joy Winkler. The focus of this workshop is inspired by the themes of Tatton Park's 2026 Canaletto exhibition. Of this workshop, Joy says: "There was a time when 'wish you were here' was the cliche line on most postcards sent home to our friends and loved ones, showing the glorious settings that we as holiday makers were experiencing. Although it would be sacrilegious to call Tatton Park's Canaletto paintings ‘postcards’, they most certainly depict a time and a place that we would all love to visit or be part of. In this workshop, we will use the landscape, setting and timeframe from these masterpieces to situate characters of our own making, to give them a story, a journey, an adventure inspired by these amazing works of art."
