Botanical Pen and Watercolour Workshop

Spend the day creating beautiful botanical art in pen and watercolour with Kate Dawes

  • Booking essential

Kate will bring flowers and foliage to work from and to inspire you. We plan to go out to a nearby part of the garden at Tatton Park to pen-sketch and to look closely at the flowers to gain further inspiration. By the end of the day, you will have created one or two A4 botanical artworks to take home. Kate will show you different techniques of pen drawing along with how to overlay with 'dry' watercolour to create beautiful botanical art.

The day will be split into two phases - firstly pen drawing and then 'dry' watercolour. The day will start with Kate showing you different pen drawing styles. She will help guide you to find a pen technique that suits you.

Once you have done some pen drawing, Kate will help you find the best watercolour technique to complement your pen work.

She will offer individual support and guidance throughout the day, to help everyone develop their personal style, understand composition, colour mixing, and achieve a more confident approach to art. Artist Kate Dawes is an experienced art workshop tutor. She leads Botanical Pen and Watercolour workshops for prestigious organisations including RHS Bridgewater, David Austin Roses, the National Trust, Daylesford Organic and Wedgwood.

Suitable for all abilities from absolute beginners to the more experienced artist, who would like to try a new technique and approach to art. All materials included.
