Echoes of Industry: Exploring Levant and the Tin Coast for Heritage Open Days

Explore the architectural landscape and the structures that have defined the Tin Coast since it's industrial conception. Experience the harmony between land, technology and infrastructure that put Cornwall on the world mining map

  • Booking essential

Steam, Stone, and Sea: this hour long walk will contrast today's nature, beauty and tranquillity with the stark past of industrial scale mining. We will traverse the iconic structures that have become historic landmarks littering this rugged coast path. Understand how steam technology changed this coast and left a legacy recognised today by its world heritage status.

This walk is 1.4m or 2.2km is suitable for walkers of all levels. The route is uneven but mostly flat and can be made Tramper accessible with a phone call to Levant Mine in advance to arrange this.

This walk and talk will be at 2pm from Sunday 14 September to Thursday 18 September with the last walk offer on Sunday 21 September, also at 2pm. The meeting point for this walk will be at Levant Mine and Beam Engine reception. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of your walk. This walk is in addition to Levant's daily tour offer which is also free for Heritage Open Days. For any advice on timings, please call Levant Mine and Beam Engine on 01736786156.

To get the most of your day on the Tin Coast, we recommend starting your day at Botallack Count House, using our car park on site and the café and facilities. From there, it is a way marked route over to Levant Mine which takes approximately 15 minutes (1m or 1.6km).
