After exploring the miles the footpaths and multiuse trails, you can refuel & enjoy a well-earned rest at The Stables café situated at the heart of Penrose. The café offers sandwiches, hot toasties, hot & cold drinks, cakes & ice cream which you can enjoy in the new indoor seating area, the picnic benches crafted from recycled milk bottles in the courtyard, or in the sanctuary of walled garden behind the café
Most of the food and drink served is prepared on site in our kitchen, using a wide range of ingredients. As a result, we can’t guarantee that any of our food and drink products are completely allergen free.
If you have an allergy or intolerance and would like ingredient information about the food and drink served, please ask the staff, who will be happy to help.

A recent addition to Penrose is the second-hand book nook, located at the inside café seating area.
The bookshop is stocked with a variety of pre-loved fiction and non-fiction books, including children’s collections, cookery, gardening and biographies. When you purchase a book, you help us raise funds for the ongoing care of the walled garden behind the café.
Limited storage means we can only accept small quantities but donations of quality books, especially paperback fiction & children’s books are most welcome. Please call ahead on 01326 222170 or email penrose@nationaltrust.org.uk if you have books you would like to donate.
