Monastic Buckland: A Guided Tour

Uncover the monastic past at Buckland as you take a walk with our volunteer Brian. You will discover fascinating architecture at every turn and understand better the story of Buckland Abbey before the dissolution of the monasteries.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Join us for an introductory talk and guided walk to discover why a group of 13th century monks left their monastery on the Isle of Wight and travelled to Devon to set up an Abbey here at Buckland.

This tour lasts for approximately 1.5 hours and takes you around the buildings of Buckland to look at the architecture and stonework. Through this you will be able to build up a picture of how the Abbey might have looked in Medieval terms.

This tour takes place on the first Thursday of every month.
