Agatha after hours
From childhood to crime writer, Greenway House and its collection portrays the incredible life of the bestselling novelist of all time. This is her story.
- Booking essential
You’re invited to join us for a special after-hours event at Greenway, as part of the International Agatha Christie Festival celebrations.
Known as the Queen of Crime, Dame of English Literature and Mrs Mallowan, Agatha’s literary legacy has had a lasting impact on the world of fiction and crime.
In 1938 Agatha bought Greenway as a holiday home, 18 years after publishing her first crime novel and the birth of her most famous detective Hercule Poirot. Born and raised in Torquay, Agatha returned to her roots, fashioning a family residence to spend time away from the limelight for the next 62 years.
On this special evening event, journey through her life on two curated guided tours, 'Childhood to Crime Writer' and 'Behind the scenes at Greenway'.
It's a chance to get up close with Agatha’s items in the National Trust’s collection, with pieces not on display to the public including personal effects, signed first editions and objects that inspired her books. The tour will include a welcome drink, VIP programme and canapes, concluding with all guests gathering for the 'dénouement' - the end of Agatha's story.
Please note this tour includes walking and stairs. Please contact the Greenway team directly with any questions about accessibility.
