Apple Pressing Experience Day
Learn about how we manage 50 acres of traditional orchards, select & taste local and heritage apple varieties and press and blend your own apple juice.
- Booking essential
Spend the day with award winning apple juice producer and Killerton Ranger, Harry, as you learn about how we manage 50 acres of traditional orchards, select and taste local and heritage apple varieties and press and blend your own apple juice in Killerton’s cider barn. Following our ‘tree to bottle’ ethos, you will start the day with a tour of one of Killerton’s oldest orchards, finding out about their cultural and historical importance, how we look after our veteran and ancient apple trees for the benefit of both nature and produce, and sampling some of the unusual, rare and sometimes unique apples along the way. At the cider barn and in the shadow of our 250-year-old cider press, you’ll have the opportunity to pick, clean, scrat and press your own apples, and discover more about making apple juice, cider and apple cider vinegar. You’ll be guided through every step from picking to pasteurising, finishing with labelling and taking home your own bottles of blended juice. This event will take place regardless of the weather. Please wear comfortable outdoor footwear and clothing. Tea, coffee, and apple juice will be provided, please bring your own lunch. Food can be purchased from the Stables Café which is close-by during lunch.
