Reintroduction of Water voles - An evening with Citizen Zoo and the National Trust
Join us at Mortehoe Village Hall for an evening exploring the story of the water vole, one of the UK’s most threatened mammals, and how local conservation efforts are working to bring them back to North Devon.
- Booking not needed
- Free event
Join us at Mortehoe Village Hall to learn about plans for the reintroduction of water vole to Woolacombe, the fastest declining mammal in the UK, and how local conservation efforts are working to bring them back to North Devon.
Once a common sight along our waterways, water voles have disappeared from up to 90% of their former habitats. With none currently living in North Devon, the National Trust and Citizen Zoo are working together to change that.
The evening will begin with a presentation from Citizen Zoo, sharing how you can get involved in monitoring water voles in your everyday life. Learn how to spot signs of their presence while out walking, and how to record and share anything you find.
The National Trust will then share plans for the reintroduction of water voles to the area, explaining how this will help restore biodiversity and support healthier watercourses.
You'll also have the chance to express your interest in volunteering or supporting the project directly.
Whether you're a wildlife enthusiast or simply curious about local nature, this is a great opportunity to learn more and get involved.
