Seasonal family bushcraft workshops

New for 2024 season, bring your parents along to these seasonal family bushcraft workshops with local expert Joe Peartree.

From wood carving, fire lighting skills, animal tracking to foraging and den building, the sessions will vary according to the season. Suitable for age 7 + through to teens and adults! All adults and children attending will need to purchase a ticket. **The price of the workshop is £15, however the price to pay here includes your entry (NT members free) AND boat fare which will allow you to pass through visitor reception quickly on the day. For any visitors already staying on the island and wishing to attend the event (e.g camping guests), please contact the Brownsea Island office at brownseaisland@nationaltrust.org.uk for additional information before booking.

Upon arrival, please check with the visitor welcome staff where to meet your guide.

What to bring and wear

Wear sturdy outdoor footwear and clothing paying attention to recent and up to date weather forecasts.

Other

Please be aware that different activities will be available at different times of years (no ignition in the summer due to high fire risk). Tickets are for any adults and children attending the event and include boat fare and entry fee. If some of your family or party visiting Brownsea that day will not be attending the bushcraft, they will need to pay for entry and boat fare upon arrival. Please make sure you choose the correct ticket. For those attending the morning session, please ensure you arrive at Poole Quay in time for the first ferry crossing at 10am. There will be seats reserved for you, please head towards the sign for bushcraft and queue there. You will meet your guide near visitor reception upon arrival on the island, please ask the staff for the meeting point. For those attending the afternoon session, please ensure you are on the island in good time and allow 30 minutes to head to the meeting place. Please ask a member of staff upon arrival. We recommend that layers are worn in colder months, arms and legs are always covered at all times and waterproofs .
