Join our rangers - clearing pirri pirri bur

Fancy getting outdoors and stuck into some hands-on countryside work? If so, join our rangers for the next volunteering task on Sunday 14 April - clearing pirri pirri bur from the sand dunes on the Studland peninsula.

  • Booking essential
  • Free event

This family-friendly event takes place from 10am-3pm.

Pirri pirri bur is an invasive plant thought to have been introduced to the UK in shipments of wool from New Zealand in the early 1900s. It thrives in sandy soils, where it grows in dense mats which prevent native plants from establishing. Its prickly burs hook onto clothes and animal fur, aiding in seed dispersal.

By removing as much pirri pirri bur as we can, we can give native plants a fighting chance.
