Miggie is the younger daughter of GW Allinson, who was well known locally in the 1950's and 60's. He worked mostly in oils and gouache and specialised in landscapes, equestrian subjects and portraits including equestrian portraits. She discovered watercolour later in life and studied for a number of years under the renowned botanical artist, Jenny Jowett and has exhibited with the Society of floral painters also with the SAA. She always paints from life and likes to depict fruit and vegetables as well as flowers and particularly enjoys subjects from the natural world including wildflowers, lichens and fungi.
Ali from a young age has been immersed in the world of drawing and painting with pencils and acrylics. She pushes boundaries experimenting with new techniques and styles. She thrives on pet and people commissions and has garnered the TALO Young Artist of the Year Award 2024. She has developed a distinctive pixelated/block style achieved with square and flat brushes and her landscapes come alive with acrylics and watercolours creating thick 3D textures using palette knives. A signature element of her practice is the use of limited colour palettes typically just three or four colours which lends a cohesive and harmonious feels to her pieces.
