Autumn Talks at Emmetts: Seeds for the Future and for Today with Dr Christopher Cockel –Sun

Step into the fascinating world of seeds, plants and global conservation with Kew Gardens scientist, Dr Christopher Cockel. This event is part of the Emmetts Garden Autumn Festival.

Join Kew Gardens scientist, Dr Christopher Cockell to discover how seeds travel across landscapes and generations and the crucial role they play in protecting the future of plant life.

Blending science with big-picture thinking, this engaging talk explores how we can better understand and support the plants that sustain our world, offering fresh insight into the challenges and possibilities of conservation today. Followed by a Q&A.

About the speaker: Christopher Cockell coordinates ‘Native Seeds for Restoration: Diversity and Resilience in the UK’ which is funded by the Players of the People’s Postcode Lottery. This brings together Kew’s science, seed collections and horticultural expertise to support UK habitat conservation and restoration in the UK. He also manages some of the Millennium Seed Bank’s partnerships in Asia, including with partners in India, Malaysia, Nepal, Taiwan, and Vietnam, with a particular focus on the Pakistan Medicinal Trees and Shrubs Project which is part of the Garfield Weston-funded Global Tree Seed Bank Programme.

Early bird full-day passes for talks taking place on Sunday 18 October are available for £30 until 31 August.

Individual talk tickets for the Sunday sessions will be available at the standard adult rate from 1 September priced at £10.

This event takes place on the meadow under a marquee. Please head to the Visitor Centre on arrival with ticket confirmation.
