Charlotte Harris: Cultivating Beauty - the Evolution of the English Garden

The Sissinghurst Series presents acclaimed landscape designer Charlotte Harris, whose work is rooted in sensitivity to people, place, and ecology.

  • Booking essential

Join us at Sissinghurst for an afternoon of conversation with a designer whose gardens are shaped not only by beauty, but by care, courage, and connection.

Charlotte Harris is an acclaimed landscape designer and co-founder of the award-winning Harris Bugg Studio. Since then, she has earned three Gold Medals and a Best in Show at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and been named a “pioneering design talent” by the RHS. A respected voice in her field, Charlotte is an RHS Show Garden judge, a guest lecturer, and Contributing Editor for Gardens Illustrated.

Notable recent projects include the transformation of the Barbican Conservatoryand Horatio’s Garden Sheffield & East, a restorative sanctuary designed to support the wellbeing of patients, families, and NHS staff affected by spinal cord injury.

Charlotte’s thoughtful and progressive approach to design is deeply informed by her own lived experience. As a proudly out queer person working in a traditionally conservative profession, she brings a vital voice to conversations around identity, visibility, and belonging—powerful themes that echo at Sissinghurst, where LGBTQ histories are interwoven with the garden’s legacy.

This event is part of The Sissinghurst Series for 2025, a series of horticultural experts speaking on topical issues in the gardening world today.
