Summer of Play at South Foreland Lighthouse: Family Nature Art Activities
Join us for a drop-in session of fun short walks and activities throughout the day, for the young and young-at-heart. We've a microscope, nature pictures, and butterfly and bug mobiles, dreamcatchers, collages and models for you to make and take.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
As well as guiding shipping past the treacherous Goodwin Sands, South Foreland Lighthouse is situated in a veritable treasure trove of nature. As part of our Summer of Play activities, join our friendly ecologist, Mel Wrigley, for short walks, bug, plant and flower identification and much more. We'll have a microscope and computer screen where you'll be able to look at tiny bugs and plants in detail, and Mel will explain more about them and where they live. You'll also have the opportunity to colour your choice of nature art and make it into a mobile, dreamcatcher or collage for you to take home. Free event, no need to book, just turn up.

Normal parking charges apply; National Trust members and blue badge holders can park for free. If you are a blue badge holder, please telephone the contact number in advance for instructions. Well-behaved dogs on short leads are welcome. Young children may need some help with some of the activities. If heavy rain or strong winds are forecast, the walks may need to be curtailed; however, the activities in the Marconi Hut will still go ahead. Summer of Play is sponsored by Starling Bank.
