Heritage Open Days - Special Guided Tour

Join us and to learn about the building of Allan Bank - Grasmere's first villa. We are delighted to be hosting these special guided tours as part of Heritage Open Days week - England’s largest festival of history and culture.

Join us on this unique opportunity to hear about the fascinating architectural history of Allan Bank - the different phases of the house and all its surprises. Learn about the stories of its construction for a wealthy Liverpool merchant and the various additions and demolitions made by its subsequent owners. Discover how the building of the billiards room to house the then owner's collection of medieval stained glass, was inspired by former British Prime Minister, Robert Walpole.
