Notes on Rest
This exhibition in a room once occupied by Romantic writer Samuel Taylor Coleridge, explores the parallels between the rhythms of plant life and the ongoing health issues of artist Karen Davies.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
Charcoal drawings and etchings of plants grown on the artist's balcony examine the themes of growth, fragility, care and endurance.
Alongside these are Notes to Plants, a series of handwritten Post-its developed from Notes to Self, first made in a bedroom during the pandemic. When addressed to plants rather than herself, these observations are gentler, offering kindness and patience, and are a reminder to be tender.
Together, the exhibition allows different threads of an artist's practice to meet, and asks how rest, care and attention can shape the process of making.
