Booking your visit to Townend

You can now choose from two different types of visit to Townend. From 10am until 3pm the house can be accessed through self-led, free flow visits. For those wanting to find out more about Townend, we have guided tours at 3pm each day. Tickets for the guided tours can be booked online. Find out more and plan your visit.

Tours

You can now choose from two different types of visit to Townend. From 10am until 3pm the house can be accessed through self-led, free-flow visits which do not need to be booked in advance. Last entry for free-flow visits is 2.30pm.

For those wanting to find out more about Townend, we have guided tours at 3pm each day. Lasting approximately 45 minutes, these will be themed and allow you exclusive access in a small group of up to 10 people. Tickets for the guided tours can be booked online.

  • Tuesday and Wednesday- Townend General History Tour
  • Thursday- Townend General History and Taste of Townend Tour
  • Friday- Townend General History, Books and Library Tour

How to book

We recommend booking in advance to ensure your place on a guided tour. However, we will welcome all visitors when we have the capacity to do so. Entry is free for members, but please bring your membership card with you. Non-members will need to pay. Please note we can only accept contactless payment.

  • Please book one ticket per person, except for children aged five or under as they don’t need a ticket.
  • You’ll need to choose an arrival time for the day you want to visit.
  • The timeslot is for your arrival time only.
  • Tickets are for your use only and are not available for resale.
  • We'll send your booking confirmation by email. Please make sure you fill in your correct email address when you book to ensure you receive your confirmation email.

Every Thursday we'll release new bookings for visits. You can now book two weeks in advance. On quieter days we might have availability on our tours for visitors who haven't booked.

Changing your booking

If you set up an account when you made your booking, you will be able to amend the date/time of your booking online up to 24 hours before the date of your visit, or by calling 0344 249 1895

If you are a member and can no longer attend, please let us know by giving us a call on 0344 249 1895

When you arrive

For those who have booked, please have your booking information ready to show the welcome team and arrive within your 15-minute timeslot.

You’ll find the welcome team waiting. They’ll tell you a bit about the house as you come in and we’ll also provide some written information which you can take away.
