Wildlife Recording Day

Fancy learning about and recording the wildlife you see and helping to collect data?

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Join us on the beautiful Whitehaven coast for a relaxed and rewarding day exploring and recording the wildlife that makes this area so special. Whether you’re a keen naturalist or simply curious about what’s living around you, this is a great opportunity to get involved.

Drop in any time between 10am and 3pm at the free car park at Haig Pit and stay for as long as you like. We’ll have identification guides and sample pots available, and staff on hand to help you discover and record what you find.

Records can be submitted using the iRecord app (our preferred method), but paper recording sheets will also be available — so no need to worry if you’re new to it.

This event is in support of Cumbria Biodiversity Data Centre’s county-wide wildlife recording drive, Cumbria Wild Watch, helping to build a clearer picture of local biodiversity.

No previous experience is needed — just bring your curiosity!
