Blickling Books: Handling and Conservation Workshop
Discover the fascinating world of book conservation in this unique, hands-on session at Blickling Estate.
Working in a small group of no more than 10 participants, you’ll have the opportunity to handle books from Blickling’s historic collections and explore the techniques used to care for and conserve these remarkable objects.
The session will be led by Blickling’s Property Librarian and Regional Conservator, alongside a freelance book conservator. Together, they will introduce you to the principles and practicalities of book conservation, offering a rare insight into the specialist work involved in caring for historic collections.
As part of a Seed Fund research project, the session will also explore participants’ experiences of handling and conserving historic books. You’ll be invited to complete a short evaluation at the end of the session, helping to inform the research and our understanding of how people engage with conservation.
This free event is an exciting opportunity to get hands-on with Blickling’s collections, learn from conservation specialists and discover more about the care of our historic books.
Places are strictly limited to 10 participants. Lunch is not provided, so please bring your own lunch or make use of Blickling’s café.
