Grimm’s Fairy Tales Reimagined Art Trail
Step into a world where familiar fairy tales are transformed into imaginative works of art this winter.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
Explore a collection of fairytale-inspired art installations at Crook Hall Gardens. Art students from Durham Sixth Form Centre drew inspiration from Grimm’s Fairy Tales to create unique clay artworks. You’ll see well-known stories like Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood, as well as some you might not know. Each piece has its own magical touch. Enjoy discovering these creative works as you walk through the gardens.
Crook Hall Gardens is linked to the Grimm’s Fairy Tales because it was once home to Margaret Raine Hunt (1831-1921). She was a successful author, often writing as Averil Beaumont. In 1884, she created the first major English translation of Grimm’s Household Tales. This winter’s programme celebrates her legacy.
To continue the theme, you can also find a small art installation featuring Grimm's book cover art, plus fairy-tale dress-up for kids in the hall.
The trail is included with your regular admission.
