18 July - 31 August

Step into a summer of fun, theatricality, drama and mischief at Seaton Delaval Hall. Inspired by the Delavals’ Georgian love of spectacle and surprise, expect pop-up activities and playful moments across the site all summer long. Get stuck into high-energy play zones, with sporty challenges, races and games to get everyone moving. Clamber over the hay bale scramble, test your balance and enjoy energetic, active play.

 

Our play zones are available all day, every day and included with your membership or standard admission. Our pop-up events and activities are on dates specified only. All are drop-in, free with your membership or standard admission and no booking required. The exception is Young Gardeners in the Community Kitchen Garden, which is free and drop-in (admission not required and not included). Discover our play zones below!

Throughout the summer holidays enjoy a host of additional pop-up activities, led by some of the region's most fun artists! All activities are included with your admission, you can drop-in any time and there is no booking required.

Family-friendly things to do in the grounds

Seaton Delaval Hall was once home to a generation of residents known as the 'Gay Delavals', notorious 18th-century pranksters, who loved nothing more than to confuse their guests with mischief and trickery.  Their [in]famous playfulness has been reintroduced throughout the grounds, designed to show hints of the trickery and mischief for which its inhabitants were known.

There is lots for families with children to discover and enjoy inside Seaton Delaval Hall so that whatever the weather, you’ll have a great day out.

Grab a bite for the whole family

When you’ve run off some energy it’s time to have a rest and recharge the batteries.

Bring a picnic and grab some hot and cold drinks, snacks and ice creams from the van near the Delaval Playdium to top up, or head down to the Brewhouse Cafe for lunch indoors or enjoy lunch outside in the garden.
