Then step into the warmth of the West Wing kitchen stage, where a dressing‑up box and playful soundtrack invite young performers to put on their own show. When it’s time to unwind, the Gilt Parlour’s snug reading corner, filled with cushions and colourful books, offers a peaceful escape for quiet moments and shared stories. It’s the ultimate weather‑proof family day out this half term, no matter what Northumberland throws your way.

Easter Adventures

Wednesday 1 - Sunday 19 April

Looking for an Easter day out in Northumberland? This spring, Seaton Delaval Hall invites families to enjoy a fun‑filled Easter trail set within one of the region’s most playful historic estates.

A Family Day Out Near Newcastle, Sunderland and Durham.

This year’s Easter trail event is packed with springtime fun:

  • Delaval Dash races including bunny‑hop and wheelbarrow races
  • A garden‑wide egg hunt—don’t forget to check the striking Mirror Cube for hidden surprises.
  • Traditional games on the Oval including egg‑roll derby, bunny‑ear hoop‑toss, pin‑the‑tail‑on‑the‑bunny and a coco‑bird shy.
  • A family‑friendly building challenge.
  • A nature‑themed spotter, Springo.
  • Classic hook‑a‑duck fun.

Whether you're planning an Easter holiday trip, a family day out in Northumberland, or simply want to explore one of the region’s most unique historic houses, Seaton Delaval Hall’s Easter trail offers adventure, creativity and plenty of chances to make new memories.

Standard admission applies. Trail prices are £3.50 per trail plus admission which includes an Easter trail sheet, bunny ears and dairy or vegan and Free From* chocolate egg.

*Suitable for people with milk, egg, gluten, peanut and tree nut allergies.

Family-friendly things to do in the grounds

Seaton Delaval Hall was once home to a generation of residents known as the 'Gay Delavals', notorious 18th-century pranksters, who loved nothing more than to confuse their guests with mischief and trickery.  Their [in]famous playfulness has been reintroduced throughout the grounds, designed to show hints of the trickery and mischief for which its inhabitants were known.
