Hoverfly Lagoon display
Join our ranger team to find out more about the fascinating world of hoverflies and take a look at a hoverfly lagoon.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
Did you know that there are 280 species of hoverfly in the UK and they are the second most effective pollinators, after bees?
Our ranger team will be on hand to tell you more and show you a special artificial hoverfly lagoon, a place where aquatic breeding species of hoverflies can lay their eggs. These lagoons are made to mimic rotting holes in trees or in places the ground that fill with water but are becoming scarce in our gardens and woodlands.
