Beyond the Big House: Estate Stories
Guided tour - Step back in time and follow the estate workers as they bring the stories of the grounds to life.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
The first stop is the Cattle Yard, where cattle were housed before being moved around the estate.
Next, discover the Forge, where blacksmiths made and repaired the tools used across the estate. You'll also pass the Laundry Yard, where clothes and linens were washed, and the Carpenter's shop.
The final stop is the water-powered sawmill. Originally driven by the power of the nearby river, it produced timber for the estate until the water power was replaced by electricity.
