• Using gum ammoniac - preparing and applying this traditional gold size, used by manuscript artists for over a thousand years

• Medieval colour techniques - building luminous layers with fine brushes

• Take‑home artwork - a finished illuminated miniature to frame or gift

Suitable for complete beginners as well as returning students, this gentle, heritage‑rich workshop offers a rare chance to learn illumination in a National Trust setting.
