Improving your mental health can feel like a challenge, but the 5 ways to wellbeing provide some simple steps to help improve your mood and feel more relaxed.
Connect:
Take some time to discover wild animals or insects at Sandilands. Watch out for birds overhead, insects around hedgerows, or wildlife in the sea.
Get active:
Visit Sandilands to hold a yoga pose, exercise outdoors or simply take a walk. After enjoying the sights and sounds of Sandilands, why not walk back along the shoreline? Use your imagination to create some wild art with natural materials you find along the way.
Take notice:
Find a quiet spot and close your eyes. Take three deep breaths, then listen for the natural sounds around you. How many different things can you hear? Take a photo, draw a picture or write a poem to capture nature’s beauty.
Learn what works for you:
Even small amounts of time in nature can boost your mood. Try different activities to find things you enjoy. The sky’s the limit. Get up early to watch a sunrise or stay up late to admire the stars. If you’re not a night owl, or you enjoy a lie in, look up during the day for a bit of cloud bathing. Do what works for you. You may prefer to expand your nature knowledge. Read a book/article, watch a video, or listen to a podcast instead.
